faces are blurred, colours are dulled -
either people, or the dolls/puppets,
a look is like another,
and a tint is like a tint.
I am tired and, while pausing,
would invite you to a show,
where dolls are so alike the people.

buffooneers and buccaneers,
circus-men and tumbler-skillers,
and a villain who inspires a fear,
wolf and hare, tigers caged, -
all of them are marionettes
in the deftly and hard-working grips.

muppets are tweaked/tugged by the ropes,
they have smiles on their obverse,
and the clown plays the trumpet bell.
in the process being presented
an impression is created,
dolls are dancing fully/wholly by themselves.

ah, sometimes it's so a pity,
the proprietor is not visible:
a thread goes up and into th' dark.
meanwhile the dolls are so obedient,
we believe quite clear and simple,
dolls are able to talk and realize.

but here the master snuffs out the candles -
time is up and the game is ended,
moon is shown shining in the clouds..
the dolls will be removed from a long rod
and, by covered up by mothballs,
will be nested in the chests, like/as rags.
