To love the Lord

Oh, how to love Him, who exists
before all things and holds them all, 
whose love in Jesus Christ consists
to give us hope and enthrall?

Invisible,  He's everywhere
and He desires us to look
for Him, His guidance and His care
in His creation and His Book.

It's when we're coming to the end
of ourselves and see our sins,
which so deeply Him offend,
the love for God in us begins.

To love the Holy God it is,
acknowledging that He is right,
in deep repentance on our knees
to seek forgiveness and His light.

To love Him it's to love His Son
who shed His precious holy blood
and on the cross for us He won
the life eternal in its bud.

To love the Holy God it is
for truth and righteousness to strive
by trying every day to please
the Lord, in whom we are alive.

And, seeking wisdom of His Word,
the fruit of Spirit to produce,
avoiding baits of the world,
which aims to tempt us and seduce.

And in the world,  by plagues ridden,
the love of God is coming through:
to love the Father, who is hidden,
it is to love His children too.

And to admire how great
are His Creation and His deeds
and even in an anguished state
to trust, - He knows all our needs.

To wait patiently and pray,
believing that the Lord is wise,
that He would never us betray,
when He decides to chastise.

When the horizon looks so dark
with laws so crooked and unjust,
by not accepting Satan's mark,
to love the Lord it is to trust.

To trust that neither life, nor death,
nor powers, however great,
nor things to come, nor height, no depth
can from His love us separate.
