Leaving bitterness behind

Feeling withered, snapped, and blighted,
but inside more mature,
no more I am excited
by the worldly trends' allure.

Crossing bridges, seeking meaning,
leaving bitterness behind,
looking for my inner healing,
what I in this life find?

Words of scorn, misunderstanding...
Let them be, who hatred brew
and, my name with libel branding,
slanderous accusations spew.

Should I to my anger hold,
keep resentment in return?
No, emotions blindfold
and disable to discern.

Not by feelings I am guided,
not by worldly dirty tricks,
but by council God provided,
which is in the Bible fixed.

I can handle all derision,
if I bitterness release,
if I live by God's provision
of forgiveness, patience, peace.

Them, I cannot change or alter,
who are foul or unfair.
I'm bringing to the altar
those people in my prayer.

Let the Lord forgive such souls,
guiding liars to repent.
God's in charge, and He controls
every painful event.

Let the Lord alone decide,
judging every human thought,
who's condemned or justified.
who's acquitted, who is not.

No vengeful acts are needed,
when the Lord from blame freed,
for the grace of God exceeded
all my own forgiveness' need.
