Madness

The wars’ absurdity, the peak of human madness,
when youth is sacrificed on the altar
of other people’s power…
                                              With sadness
I contemplate the history unfold,
which we, as humans, cannot ever alter
and remedy all misery untold.
This world is mad, but, playing old games,
disguising trenches’ fears, sweat and mud,
concealing soldiers’ tears, pus and blood
of their wounds, it insolently claims
to know the truth, to see the way ahead.

Inbred with sin, with cruelty and pride,
and greed, on myths and lies fed,
pursuing some solution outside
domains of a foolish human heart,
in arrogance attempting to impart
its wicked wisdom on the trusting boys,
the world contaminates the children’s souls
by camouflaging its perverted goals,
deceiving with its spirit’s putrid breath,
and turn them into pawns – the mere toys
in Devil’s hands and sentences to death,
and does not give a toss.

The sanity alone,
the Truth incarnate, able to atone,
is hanging, crucified on the cross.
