Revisit

A woman in a long black lace dress, giggling funnily like a witch from old children’s tales, was holding a glass filled with something red vaguely resembling… However, it wasn’t clear with what exactly. She snapped her fingers and small twinkling lights appeared from nowhere. Bright green, orange and light yellow colors were now in the air. Her look quickly went over the top of the guests’ heads. When her hard icy gaze fell on me, I felt a shiver all over my body. She smiled at me cheerfully as if we were good old friends although I was sure I saw her for the first time. Soon I quickly lost her in the crowd.

Several dancers were performing on the stage, wearing their bright elaborate dresses and barely noticeable but pleasant makeup. Their soft shoes lightly touched the floor under their feet. It seemed that they were floating in the air completely weightless. Later on the music changed. The step dancers appeared in their hard shoes. Each shoe was decorated with a green shamrock. The intricate footwork started. With every their move magically more and more colored leaves became visible. By the end of the dance, the whole floor was strewn with leaves. People were moving through them and the rustling sounds were everywhere.

I went up to the second floor where everyone could help themselves with strange color-changing cocktails that were situated on the long, large table along the wall. The content of each of the glasses was dubious. In some of them something incomprehensible was floating. So I turned away from the table with drinks that didn’t inspire confidence in me and I bumped into a tall man. Not just tall… It is better to say, he was a cut taller than I or maybe even taller. His long straight hair hung down on either side of his pale face, which showed absolutely no emotion. He slightly looked at me from head to foot. Then he easily lifted me up and moved me aside. In the process of which our eyes met. As if in a fog, he blinked several times, which turned his chestnut eyes deep green and the pupils noticeably changed their shape. Now two cat’s eyes were staring at me. I slowly backed away, feeling behind me something flat and cold. I turned around… It was just a wall but it was cold as ice. Slowly streams of something green flowed down it to the floor. When I turned back to the cat-eyed man, he was gone.

The next day I revisited this place again but that time with my friends. People were sitting along the walls and enjoying their lunch and afternoon tea. Everything was gone. The walls changed their color. The floor was clean. Against the background of quietly playing music and the general appearance of this place, yesterday seemed like a dream. But still something was in the air.
