Ode to poetry

Poetry writing is not easy thing:
Born not for crawling, it has long strong wings.
With hundreds of feathers of valuable treasures
Its flight should be light from morning till night.
 
That lullabies mothers recite for the kids and sow
The very first language love seeds,
From nursery rhymes to sonnets and ballads.
Best poetry goes from depth of the hearts.
 
The great world collection of different styles:
Lear's limericks like funny surprise,
Khayyam's rubais that witty and wise,
Japanese haiku - All world in three lines!
 
Lord Byron and Pushkin, Longfellow, Baudelaire,
Petrarca, Neruda, Jorge and Auden:
Great pleiad of genii, just galaxy, space!
The wisdom of ages, intelligence, grace.
 
To teach, to enrich, to amuse, to amaze.
To lead, to inspire, to persuade,
Revealing your feeling and views and beliefs,
Making you better for love and for peace.
