When we were young

Back to the nineties when I was raised
The grass was the brighter green then now
And all of the dreams that we have chased
Were making it out of our lonely town

Back to the fifties when I was raised
The food were way tastier than now
We have lived through our happy days
Playing tag til the sun goes down

And now I just live alone
And no one cares about me
And people are worse here
They don’t listen and don’t hear
The future is now and it’s wrong,
We imagined it brighter
When we were young.

Back to the twenties when I was a boy
My father didn’t come back from war
I was playing with my tin soldier toy
While life ruined everything I hoped for

In the nineteenth century people lived great
The books were on paper and there were no planes
There were no food courts and stuff that we ate
Were healthy as long as we fall from grace

And now I just live alone
And no one cares about me
And people are worse here
They don’t listen and don’t hear
The future is now and it’s wrong,
We imagined it brighter
When we were young.

In the fourteenth century people were kind
If you told them you’re ill they would help you
By burning you down after locking inside
The plague made people do what they shall do

Back in the Stone Age life were so cool
Kids didn’t have that stupid letters on paper
They played outside and were eaten by wolves
And those who survived invented books later

And now I just live alone
And no one cares about me
And people are worse here
They don’t listen and don’t hear
The future is now and it’s wrong,
We imagined it brighter
When we were young.

And I’m sure life were always better
Without food, with the wolves, with the plagues
Without planes, with the wars, with the rags
Life has always have been better

And the modern youngsters are bad
And just talking about it is sad
I remember the fun that we had
When we were young

And now I just live alone
And no one cares about me
