Heartbreak, bye-bye

An exquisite pain, ripping but gentle,
So quiet, tiptoeing it’s way through my soul;
So powerful, it became my handler
I’m undercover, playing a happy role.

A snake in my heart, hissing away
My smiles, my joy and my triumphs;
And hearing it whisper, I tumble and sway
Between fire and a den of lions.

A torture so fine, familiar tasting,
Heartbreak, we are long-time friends.
Yet, now I see all the time I’ve been wasting,
All the moments I saw through a sepia lens.

Heartbreak, let go. I’ve learnt my lesson.
I see the truth where the ruins lie.
I let go of this self-destructive obsession.
Heartbreak, bye-bye.
