3. The Impossible Things - Part 13

There are no smokable pipes
If just some peace’s been needed too long.
There are no unloosenable gripes
If a tyrant is powerful and strong.
There are no ungettable stripes,
But sometimes they are sure given wrong.
There are no unhuntable snipes,
But there’s no need for blowing one’s horn.

There are no unyieldable palms
If your heart and your soul long to win.
There are no unmeanable harms
If you are really plunged deep in sin.
There are no unwishable calms,
But a storm suddenly can begin.
There are no unfightable arms:
Steel’s a metal that’s stronger than tin.

There are no cleanable slates
If you can’t destroy your selfishness.
There are no unmemorizable dates
If that day started your happiness.
There are no ungulpable baits,
But try not getting into a mess.
There are no uncrashable gates
If you don’t hate all parties to death.

There are no undippable pens
If you’re a well-known poet So-and-so.
There are no unablatable wens
If your body is not a good show.
There are no unvisitable dens
If you have got nowhere else to go.
There are no unfarmable fens,
But don’t hurry and make it all slow.

There are no crossable seas
If your ship’s got a hole in its side.
There are no unbendable knees
If the greatest respect you don’t hide.
There are no inacquittable fees
If you work really hard and aren’t fired.
There are no untransferrable bees,
But be careful, for these beings bite.
