Democratically elect

How often humanity seeks the solution of problems
in a human power, leaving the Lord aside,
but, being so inadequate, troubled, and fallen,
it is reaping thorns, no matter how much it tried.

Democracy, as a standing joke, stinks with betrayal
of people electing their rulers and their MPs,-
a dog in the manger, it’s chasing its own tail
and rests on its own depravity, lies and sleaze.

We elect those, who are able to give us hope,
those, whose promises overwhelm and impress,
but such folks are slippery as a piece of soup,
putting the country each day in a bigger mess.

Devious hearts upon reaching long-waited power
pursue their own interest and a personal gain.
A high position becomes their strong tower,
they treat the needs of the nation with an utter disdain.

A politician, at large, performs as an actor,
who cares far more for his status, protecting his skin.
Why wonder? Deceit is a usual human factor:
the nature of people is ridden, alas, with sin.

Of course, they wouldn’t share their private motives
with those who are for them a lower class.
Those in charge of the History’s locomotive
are blindly leading blinds to an impasse.
