Spiritual blindness

Never knowing an alternative,
how limited is perception!
Blind eyes can’t see eternity,
hearts are prone to self-deception.

Every minute Death is tip-toeing,
so quickly it is approaching,
and, without us ever knowing,
its dark shadow is encroaching.

Full of ego’s selfish ambitions,
we forget that we are just dust.
It’s the history’s repetition:
death is triumphing, life looks unjust.

Yet, there is no need for despair.
Evil may all its powers brandish,
thanks to Christ, the option is there
our fears of death to banish.

For all people who recognized
that their hearts are not worth a farthing,
God alone had authorized
the eternal life with His pardon.

When we look at the Christ’s perfection
and compare with our lives,
we can grasp that His resurrection
all repentant souls revives.

If He loved us to crucifixion,
if He kept His Word to His death,
we can trust with a great conviction
in His promise to give us His breath.
