Drunkard

You just couldn't stand your reality
So drinking was the escape
Your soul was too fragile and soft
Not meant for violence and rage

You tried to survive and to fight
But through the years became tired
Your spirit was broken, you lost your light
Wanted to sink your mind, so you tried

That bottle gave such a relief
It helped you to go through time
And everyone warned you, but you didn't believe
Forgetting was not a crime

Time passed, you forgot who you were
The world became cruel and strange
And only your bottle could give you warmth
That love you still needed to share

So all that you had was just lost
Except that mild heart inside
You listened to its beating
Alone on cold and dark nights

The world was so harsh to you
But you wanted to give your love
And in your long fuzzy dreams
You saw the sky and two doves

All what you wanted was just a bit of love
You went to crowded streets
But for people you were not clean enough
What you wanted to give they didn't need

You tried to help them and you tried to talk
You just felt so alone
You were so weak, you couldn't even walk
They cursed you and threw stones

You hadn't done anything wrong
But policemen with guns came
Your heart was too soft for violence
You just tried to hug one of them

A cold lead bullet in your mild heart
Was all that the world could give
You didn't want to die, you just had to drink
Because it simply helped you to live

People stepped over you, they didn't care
All you asked for was just a bit of love
And before your eyes closed forever
You saw in the sky two white doves
