The Blood of the Lamb

                "…without shedding of blood is no remission."
                Hebrews 9:22               

We are swamped by philosophies legions.
Which belief, whose idea wins?
Yet, fig leaves of views and religions
don’t cover our sins.

Which of various creeds and confessions
would be pleasing the greatest I AM?
Nothing washes away transgressions
but the blood of an innocent lamb.

Since the Fall, from an innocent creature
God made skins for Adam and Eve.
Thus, without a word of preaching,
their hope to return was conceived.

Not the fruit of a human labour,
like Kain presumed his right,
killing Abel, his brother, his neighbour,–
Abel’s lamb was good in God’s sight.

That's the image of Christ sacrificed
with His innocent blood being shed,
giving entry to paradise,
as the Bible about it said.

By His blood we can stand forgiven.
By His blood human souls are renewed.
By His blood life eternal is given.
We can take it with gratitude!
