Nothing matters

How man his life scatters –
toils’ drudgery or fun!
Nothing matters, nothing matters,
but what God for us has done.

All we do, alas, is destined
on the very final day –
all the pleasures, joys, and blessings –
to be thrown then away.

Everyone on Earth has failed –
thief, adulterer or fraud…
On the cross for us was nailed
precious Jesus, Son of God.

Therefore it matters only
what we now do for Him.
Let’s proclaim His name boldly,
Jesus, Son of Elohim.

And whatever days provide –
work, or family, or fun,
don’t let these things divide
our hearts from God’s own Son.

If we can respond by serving
Christ, a sign of gratitude,
let us show, without swerving,
humble servants’ attitude.

Not forgetting the dependence
on His love and on His grace,
let’s remember in repentance
that He sufferings embraced.
