Every time, when the night gets nearer
and the birds disappear to rest,
oh my Lord, let me know it clearer,
if I've passed yet another one test.
Help examine my steps, if I've stumbled,
if I followed You by Your call,
if my mind was humble or grumbled,
if my heart was OK or too small...
Every time, when the day is extinguished
and the memory blurs its details,
please enable me, Lord, to distinguish
right from wrong, and what future entails.
Give me wisdom to ask for forgiveness,
give me grace to forgive and forget,
so that bitterness, like any illness,
couldn't have for my soul a bet.
