Would you ask in the moment of sorrow?
whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith
produces perseverance.”
James 1:2
When, destroying your luck and contentment,
pain and trouble would spiral you down,
would you question your Lord with resentment,
why He let this unfair breakdown?
Would you ever believe in His promise
that He never abandons His child,
or would doubt, like hesitant Thomas,
in your lonely days exiled?
Would you sulk and, self-pitying, moan,
that your life is not as you’ve dreamt?
Do you know that when you're alone,
Satan sneaks in your heart to torment.
Then, forgetting Christ’s blood in Gethsemane
that was mingled with tears and sweat,
would you see your Creator as enemy,
just because you are very upset?
Would you forfeit your faith and piety?
Would you grumble, complain and object?
Would you wave your fist at Almighty,
who apparently He did not protect?
Would you now, discarding affection,
in your anger His Name revile?
Would you go another direction
or would follow Christ extra miles?
Would you ask in the moment of sorrow,
why your Lord had allowed this trial,
or, whatever the days at you throw,
you’d accept circumstances hostile?
And in all of your deepest unhappiness,
would you know the peace that’s beyond
understanding? What the future unwrapping is
with Eternity strengthening bond.
When the destiny, which you envision,
unforeseen, goes suddenly bust,
would you meet a divine decision
with the joy, as a test of your trust?
