The meager corpse of a fox

The outing, to all appearances, was not successful. The two hunters trudged through the snow, accompanied by their dogs.

“Self-sabotage is not a one-time act, it is a lifestyle and a choice,” observed the first one to illustrate the paucity of the hunt.

“You don’t savor the good stuff,” replied the second one. “Just be sure to ask the right people.”

The landscape was a flat-bottomed valley. 

“Looks like we have lost our way,” observed the first one. “It is not our home town down there.”

“Bluntly put, but accurate: culpability doesn’t change a situation,” replied the second one.

“And the mountains, the mountains!  The mountains are the clue to the hidden meaning,” observed the first one.

“I’m telling you, you don’t savor the good stuff,” replied the second one.

“Comparison is the thief of joy,” observed the first one.

And they trudged on, accompanied by their dogs.
