В дальних влажных диких джунглях - In the jungle

Part I.

In the wild rainy jungle
There was a mighty jumble:
All the creatures all together
Had a meeting by bad weather.
Chair-mammal was the lion.
So he started: “On Hawaii
It is sunny all year round,
I, as I’m in public crowned,
Give the order – make a travel
There”. Roared and rapped his gavel.
Some suspicious of the edict
Started mumbling: “Are you kidding?
Never have we done such rubbish,
It’s unsafe, we all can vanish!
So what if we have all time
Suffered fever quarantine?
So what if we have always
Seen the same unpleasant maze?
Wet but native – dear home,
Far from it – we’ll be alone.
Why adore unseen exotic
When we have the same in plenty,
Far away – we’ll turn neurotic
And can suffer poor ending”.

So nervous was the jangle
In the wild rainy jungle.

All were leaving making hustle,
Bigger ones were flexing muscles,
Forcing way through mere pipsqueak.
Some were snarling out: “Be quick!”
Antelopes losing hopes
Kept on leaping in big lopes.
Some gorillas getting dexterous
Asked for explanations extra.
Zebras were a little silly –
Got unpleasant queasy feeling.

So hectic was the jumble
In the wild rainy jungle.

Some dissenters, just distrusting
All the story, called it nasty,
Casting doubt on that movement
As requiring improvement.
Some, incited to resistance,
Grumbled at unjust conditions,
Others were at safer distance –
Feeling sort of premonition.
Only few fatigued echidnae
Were of right and proper kidney.
Faithful rhinos, weak-sighted,
Bulky, solid, unexcited
Trampled down all discordant –
Just to keep the needed order –
Nothing must obscure vision
Of His Majesty’s decision.
