Longing

I think a world of you and cherish every word,
And hold my breath with every absent silence,
Appearing so carefree and smiling,
Yet bringing my uncertainties aboard.

I haven't noticed when I fell so deep,
Swept with a lazy wave of quiet longing,
But every day the current's getting stronger,
And every night is yet another sleep

Or sleeplessness. So far away, without you,
The wait is worth it, but the outcome's doubtful,
By choice and ownership of anxious games.

I know I will behold you all the same
And melt into a night of silken flames,
And learn to tell my molehills from the mountains.

You are always very kind, David. The recipient doesn't read my poetry here, I know it for a fact because I track the list of readers - but I am glad you read me:)
