inkrave

if i ever had a tattoo
it would probably be the words

i’d have found in my favourite book
and would want to engrave on my skin

or it would be my mother’s handprints
so I’d hold her with me when it’s dark

or it would be my name if i found
who I am to remember within

i would leave a black-ink tiny heart
by the ankle for broken is mine

and i’d circle my scars with red ink
like in tests you correct your mistakes

i would plot basic graphs of my past
anti-clockwise would run ups and downs

round the third finger there’d be a ring
drawn with white ink like veils are sewn

as i wonder for time’s there to kill
i know would’ll never turn into will
