Influences

All top russian poets and writers of golden era (Pushkin, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Blok, ect...) were part off my program in school. I came here to USA when I was 21 years old. Here in USA I continue to read russian books, but main influences for me were not so much poets and writers, I spend countless sleepless nights listening to russian underground rock bands —-Aquarium (BG / Boris Grebenshikov), Zoopark (Maik Naumenko), Mashina Vremeni (Andrey Makarevich - Aleksandr Kutikov), Voskresenie (Konstantin Nikolskiy), Kino (Viktor Tsoy), Alisa (Konstantin Kinchev), Sergey Kalugin (Orgia Pravednikov), Kalinov Most (Dmitriy Revyakin), Nautilus Pompilus (Vyacheslav Butusov), Chizh (Sergey Chigrakov), Splin (Aleksandr Vasiliev), Umka and Bronevik (Anna Gerasimova), Zemfira (Zemfira Razmanova), Mumiy Troll (Ilya Lagutenko), Brigada S (Garik Sukachev)........many more, and if course all great western bands, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Jimmy Hendrix, Cream (Eric Clapton), Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes, Hawkwind, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Rick Wakeman.......many more! All of those great bands influenced me not only musically, because they all had great lyrical content, that fit well into the grooves of modern blues / based music. I went thru stages of growth in my poetry writing and all my russian and english 3,000+, poems and songs are published on my poetry site!
