To pursue the unattainable
You should have an inner void;
But with it you are infallible,
Still the strain  you can’t avoid;

Just a few things can’t be counted:
Winter air, wanderlust,
Secret look, a tad confounded;
Breathless soul, that is aghast...

To achieve the bird of fortune,
That is cunning and sublime;
Welcome, please, eternal torture!
You’re so precious and divine!

In the snowstorms or the desert;
In dark depths of ancient caves
Or in office - ever present
There’s no right to make mistakes!

Don’t subdue your clear thinking
And the shrewdness of the soul;
There’s no other stream for drinking;
 Vast array of joys and woes;

There’s no way to get a shadow;
Or to catch it by the hand;
You look hard at the cat’s cradle*
Imitating innocents...
