Blue

Every Friday evening,
When I go downtown,
Treading on the fallen leaves
Of yellow and brown,
I can see bright city lights
All the way through,
But while you're far away from me,
I will be blue.

Used to see a rainbow
Whenever there was rain,
Now here's my red umbrella -
I open it in vain.
Used to wear rose-coloured glasses,
And I never knew
That while you're far away from me,
I would be blue.

If I saw the green light
On each and every road,
If all clouds had silver linings
In the skies of gold,
In this world of colours
I'd see nothing new,
'Cause while you're far away from me,
I will be blue.
