Through dirt, disgust and longing for perfection

Through dirt, disgust and longing for perfection,
I learnt about love in abstract terms, -
Inventing least achievable affections,
Being scared of the point of no return.

With time, with more rejections and delusions,
I'd got some peace to cope with lack of love;
Attention then would feel as an intrusion,
And work and learning seemed quite enough.

Then, unexpected and so much delayed,
Love came in its capricious pursuit.
I didn't want it; nor could I betray it, -
Since then, our hearts are sharing every beat.

Don't force your love to come at early time:
You wouldn't be able to value its design.
