Mr Cat
Was somewhat upset
About the shortage of shortbread
On the plate ahead
Despite the fact
Of being overfed.
He would like to spread
Some butter on the bread
To offer that
To a pretty Miss Cat
Although not a thoroughbred
But with a sure thread
Or a hint to that.
What he did instead,
As they later said,
Was to bravely tread
Towards his cosy bed
So that he could get
Under the bedspread
For the night ahead.
