Poems on Moscow Sights

The front of the capital
On Moscow postcards,
Red Square shines for all
With the Kremlin stars.
          ***
I wandered and wondered
Along the Tverskaya:
Who’s the author of glamour?
Streetlamps border the skyline…
        ***
History on canvases:
The Tretyakov  Gallery!
Simple tsars and splendid landscapes;
Charm of it is evident,
Yet subtle and ever escapes.
      ***
On the Arbat I found myself,
Humming Okudzhava’s song;
Like different souvenirs on the same shelf,
Epochs stand together all the street long.
    ***
Sokolniki: the snow shines bright,
And you can get sweet profit
As ski together in twilight,
Then warm yourselves with coffee…
   ***
If the feelings tear you apart,
Go to the museum of State Art;
There copies of masterpieces reveal,
The beauty, that heals.
