No to the Apples of Sorrow - Yes to the Castles...

No to the Apples of Sorrow - Yes to the Castles of Dreams

The Day of Saint Peter and Saint Fevronia –
The Day of Family, Love, and Fidelity
                God, Bless Us!

Our hearts were the castles of broken dreams
With quietly flowing golden streams.
And odorous flowers with spruce butterflies –
So fragile and fluttering – flashed in our eyes.

We cherished our flowering gardens in weaves
Of dreamy marquees with our hopes and beliefs,
With herbs, splashing waters, bright stars, fairy nights
Enfolding us in the lovable rites.

And being apart – when we closed our eaves
We pictured our worlds through the branches and leaves.
We saw beam-streaked castles in rainbow mist
And thought that our roads would have no twist.

Now, far from your eyes and your arms, I’m alone.
A thirst for your love keeps me near the phone.
I’m wondering: why didn’t we tread under feet
The apples of sorrow they gave us to eat?

We’ll ring our fingers and lifes with the bands.
We’ll enter our Kingdom – the Long Promised Lands.
Let always our lodestar sparkle with beams
And splash in the waters of golden dreams.
