there is no sun

there is no sun
no sun
there is no sunlight yet

there is no moon
no moon
there is no moonlight yet

the river flows
in silence still
no fear or anger
will he feel

the river stares:
its stunning glow
like winter’s snow
he hardly bears
to see

though where is light
for it to glow?
though where are eyes
for it to stare?

he walks into a river.
never walks out again.

the silence,
overwhelming piece
that waits to start
after the smallest pause

the silence,
that repeats
even when
he is
long gone.
