The Old Kitty-Cat

The Old Kitty-Cat
Though not aristocrat
Was neither a simpleton
So he hated the mauvais ton.

He picked off the menu
Some vine and the venue
In the night breeze;

Soft bed
Not in the shed
To feel bright
On a windy night;

Thick  rug on the floor
Not by the door,
By the fireplace
To let dreams race.

He would be in bad mood
If the Miss misunderstood
His essential needs
To begin with:

Warm venue and the menu,
Soft bed not in the shed,
Thick rug by the fireplace
And enough space to chase.
