An appeal

The peal of bells rending the air
Is pouring out in a loud carol.
Further and further over meadows and valleys,
Under the vault of heavens,
Far and wide for every living thing
It carries an appeal.

With an air like that of flutter of a bird,
So swift as murmur in a stream,
So light as ripples in a pond,
It's knocking at the doors of every home.
Opening the windows wide
Awakens those who are asleep, brings them to life.

"Day after day you cross the threshold of your home
And step into this endless vital flow.
What's that you leave behind the door
And take with you into the world?
But still no matter what's the course
With solid crew a boat swiftly goes.

A link in this so frail chain
You wish to break away.
No need when going past the ones in trouble
To turn deaf and blind all of a sudden.

Each day gives you a chance
To break the walls, throw off your masks
And to attempt once more
To be better than you used to be before.
But mind the time as one can never tell
When comes this final chance to give those ones your hand
Who badly need your care!"
