From vaudeville to Broadway & Hollywood’s his final destination,
Where William had received domestic & international attention.

Fields tried musical comedy, applying his humor & improvisation.
He had a tendency in films for his stage sketches implementation.
William had worked on radio, stage & big screen to much success,
While due to his alcohol abuse, his own life was somewhat a mess.

He had portrayed an average man who struggled with challenges.
In real life, some of his habits were self-destructive or damaging.
Fields tried to concentrate on his abilities, skills, dreams, ambition,
Ultimately achieving much popularity, acclaim, praise, recognition.

His charming misanthropic character & comic approach - unique,
To which W.C. Fields would contribute, devote, commit or stick.
His coming timing was impeccable and sense of humor – special.
In entertainment field William made legacy, became a sensation.

Who had been fond with alcohol, whose comic impact’s residual.
We think of him today, acknowledging his effort and contribution
To his era’s comedic genre and overall entertainment institution.
