Who knows what sun will rise tomorrow

Why did I ever look inside?
I saw – forgive me God for prying –
A plain devoid of any light
Where living almost feels like dying.
I ran – the fastest – from myself,
The voices wounding: Traitor! Liar!
Will shadows nurse me back to health
Or do I have to start a fire?
I learned the truth on darker ways
From fleeing winds that I was riding:
Unless you set your soul ablaze,
You’ll never know what night is hiding.

Hold on – it takes a single spark
To try and fight away the dark
Hold on – and cast a fatal blow
We may pull through – you never know

I sat behind my aging desk,
My soul in lines I’ve never spoken,
I dreamt of taking off my mask
And finding out my soul was broken.
I see it now – the weakest link,
I never knew my worlds were falling.
My blood makes better sense than ink,
This cage won’t hold me – freedom’s calling!
I’ll make it right with my last vow –
The light is worth all pain and sorrow,
They may not care or listen now –
Who knows what sun will rise tomorrow?

Hold on – the star you paint today
Is all you need to find the way
Hold on and sing a battle cry
We never know, we have to try
