Good deeds

This may sound banal, but forgive me my harshness:
if the Truth is your goal, why gathering lies?
If you bound yourself with the falsehood in harness,
then the Truth is beyond you -  just a pie in the sky.

Do you make a facade of a decent good folk
just in order to give those lies a loophole?
When you cover untruth by a treacherous talk
from the eyes of the Lord, can you hide your soul?

Do you feel justified by the enemy's voice,
that repentance is not an everyone's need?
Devil says: Christ or self – that's a matter of choice;
no need for the cross, when one has some good deeds.

When the enemy whispers that you’re OK –
not a killer, a thief, a drug dealer, or a whore,
Satan captures your soul with this bait as his prey…
Look: your purulent heart starts to stink at its core.

Oh, we are so good in our own eyes, we’re OK!
But when the life is full of a vanity's fuss,
Pharisaic viruses eat you away,
and the soul’s tumors are filling with pus.

Don't lie to yourself that you are fine and sane,
that your internal vision isn't covered by scales,
for your lost soul is bound by Satan's chain.
Please, accept hands of Jesus impaled by nails!

To heal our hearts, God paid the highest price.
The last hour’s striking to accept this gift today.
Please, don't turn away from Christ’s sacrifice:
an irreversible moment is already on its way.
