Petal

When, like a petal, I came uncurled
from mother's womb to see the day,
what have I brought into the world
what can I take away?

Then all we own, a worldly goal,
is nothing but a grave stone,
when withered body lets the soul
depart for the unknown.

When all eternity's at stake
to live forever - what's the price?
What can I add, what can I take
except the love of Christ?
