The Universal King

The task of religion is not just to make you feel better.
If anything, often it could make you feel even worse:
God’s existence perturbs, raises questions; it could rather unsettle.
It breaks cosy worlds by inducing with a bitter remorse.

It's surely easier, yes, to continue ignoring
the symptoms of illnesses in our bodies and minds.
The absence of God is a vacuum Nature’s abhorring:
when empty, it fills with temptations and wrongs of all kinds.

We're longing too much to be healthier, richer or smarter,-
this craving takes us to a slavery, blinds and binds.
But love is the only substance that really matters,
the absence of love does impoverish and shrivel our minds.

We bury our heads like ostriches in daily cares.
Creator's instructions are shelved - they're covered with dust.
But science and politics cause us headaches and despair:
we just don't know in whom we could put our trust.

We lost our purpose and cause indescribable damage,
but God has located the fault - it's in our hearts.
We cannot accept it and so, we frantically rummage
for other improving wellbeing alternative parts.

The world is in pain; it’s losing its sense of direction,
it gropes its way through the world's philosophical junk,
embracing all trends; the exception is Christ's resurrection.
A remedy's given, but humanity's staring blank.

It's so incredible, radically new and exciting,
but we're so dull, full of fear, suspicion and pride...
Behold: the King of all kings is so humbly inviting
to live in his residence, yet people push him aside:

"No, thank you! Your heavenly kingship is dubious rather:
you're born in the manger! You’re died like a thief on a cross!
Suppose, you're a king, but the journey's too much of a hazard
and we're too busy and... so, please, Jesus, get lost!"

With sadness His heart for all humankind is pulsating.
Whatever he'd given to us, this we mindlessly wreck.
The King Universal is patient and meek. He is waiting
until on our knees to forgive and accept us we'd beg.

All happiness is so scarcely unfairly rationed,
but why do we need to cut throats for it or to fake?
The One who can heal in abundance of love and compassion,
He gives us His life, and all we can do is to take.
