Legacy Of The Ravens Pastor 11. 07. 08
(Course To The Great Divide)
Another grim leap-year; another disaster
The funeral knell o'er the cold empty wood
Another sad dirge of the old ravens' pastor
Who too long ago lost his last faith in good
His way's full of loneliness, sadness and boredom
But thus is the being he's chosen to flee
Away from insanity, hatred and whoredom
To live as a voluntary expellee
He thought his escape is the act of discretion -
The vurtue's to dwell out of greed, lust and fame
But he'll simply die in a cruelest depression
And no one will ever remember his name
I was right like him in my past incarnation,
Had trusted my homeland and my poet's fate
But soon the hard times of the black devastation
Bereft of the sense my persistence in wait
My mission was ruined and little by little
I've learned to expect not a gladness at all
Today my drear life is the ceaseless committal
Of some abstract images hurting my soul
The order is broken, it scarcely would rally
And those, whom I loved in my youth, won't return
I still watch the stars and can walk through the valley
But my heart's a candle unable to burn
The sacred ground's broken down. What can I tell you?
My star has declined and my flag's at half-mast
The woman's caress is my world's only value
'Cause everything else is but ashes is dust
And when in the merciless gloom my mind cowers
With anguish, just my sweet girl makes me believe
That midst the earth's horrors we are the two lovers
Who'd challenge the mourning and find a reprieve
We can't be united and can't hold the scunner
To this brutal planet's foul end we foresee
The pastor is leaving. Farewell, my forerunner,
I'll try to keep safely your dark legacy
It's more or less probably I've not mistaken
When turned my bark's rudder to flow 'gainst the tide
And if my land's spirit one fine day will waken
'Twill follow our trails to the bleak Great Divide
