Lionel Hampton

April 20th – Lionel Hampton’s birthday.  In 2013 there is 105 years since he was born.
 

Lionel Hampton – a talented jazz bandleader, percussionist, actor and pianist.
He’s most recognized, acclaimed as an outstanding, incomparable vibraphonist.
Hampton explored genres of mainstream jazz, big band, New York blues, swing.
He had been a versatile performer – musician and vocalist able to decently sing.
 
Enthusiastic, vigorous, prolific, kind, Hampton fulfilled artistic dreams, potentials.
Prospering from prospering domestically, he received an international attention.
Lionel as band member and soloist was gifted with good sense of improvisation.
He was an open-minded, exuberant ballad and swing musician of sophistication.
 
Collaborating with Goodman, Gillespie, Griffin, Jones, Mingus, Parker and Rich,
Hampton had performed various genres while having discovered his own niche.
With innovative vibraphone improvisations he stood out with distinction, pride.
Lionel evolved, succeeded, as he enjoyed his musical career journey, path, ride.
 
April 20th – birthday of Mr. Lionel Hampton, a memorable multi-instrumentalist,
A competent arranger, actor, composer, pianist and a pleasant, humble vocalist.
We highly think of him today and always, Lionel’s legacy will be eternal, timeless.
Hampton’s remained in history of jazz music as one of the best, greatest or finest.
