The Cuckoo
And then walk to the Summer wood
May it stay the same quiet and calming
For the ones that I live with in good.
There’s a cuckoo in the nearby forest
I will ask her to tell me my luck.
How long’s left? But only be honest,
Show me all you can see in the dark.
Fifty years before I was right here
Been a boy only starting my way.
Has the same sound stayed in the air
Of the bird I am asking today?
Townspeople don’t have an idea
Of the birds that live in the woods.
But sometimes they still travel here
To remember and hear the cuckoos.
So the cuckoo starts counting out loud
And I only have to repeat after her.
It comes out I don’t have an amount
Long enough. And that is for sure.
Thank you, Darling, for you prediction
I will better be leaving at last.
I don’t need any more benediction
I believe I can finish it fast.
