Night. Pharmacy. Street lamp and road

Night. Pharmacy. Street lamp and road.
There is a useless wobbly beam.
You may live decades finding hope.
There is no hope, its faintest gleam.

It will resume as you have gone:
There’s a canal with icy load
That gloomy night when you’ve been born,
The pharmacy, the lamp, the road.

Alexander Block, 10th Oct. 1912

Thank you for this poem, it's my favourite of A. Block, even in English it's amazing. О.Я.
