The Ultimate Roman Holiday

After thirty years at the office, I felt entitled to an exuberant trip
So I went to Italy . You must know how easy it is to trip
And fall in the country where Romans, not thinking of tourists,
Took barbaric care of the pavements, favoring ruins.
In the aftermath of the Roman fall,
My leg’s incorporated an amenity, the metal pole.
My career at the post office has been ruined.
At the end of the day, I’m justified in going postal
In the face of the prospect of being unable to deliver mail.
And it’s putrid.
