Black raven
- to poet Edgar Allan Poe -
From the loneliness in crowd
He returned to his familiar walls –
Excess of innermost thoughts
Needs to be in time to paper
Whispered until the mind rebels,
While dishes are still intact
In kitchen, and its fragments
Didn't stain his white hands...
He'll take the quill with timid gesture,
And again a row of short curls
Will leave on scattered around papers,
Papers, that became suffers' seers
Suddenly for him... There is no
Much more frightful, than early
And such unpleasant death! Dim light
Swept away from his windows,
When his first bitter tear fell down,
On the table, and here, as if ordered,
Quickly appeared a started balm
In a dusty bottle, and hard languor
With big gulp disappeared in a moment,
And like an evil raven he bowed
Over his art work... In half-drunk doze
He finished stanza with torn line,
Supplementing desired nightmare –
For those, who loves the darkness,
As if some poor and sick ones.
And tomorrow same new vision
Will further gave his simple words
For secularity (to what he'd bid farewell),
A significance of utter madness:
«Oh, how many happy brides
There are in world – kind, young,
Sometimes brooding, vulnerable,
A bit careless and so beautiful –
But still both healthy and alive...»
