John Coltrane

September 23rd – John Coltrane’s birthday.  In 2012 there is 86 years since he was born.


John “Trane” Coltrane - an extraordinary, innovative jazz musician.
His versatility included playing saxophone and music composition.
Having explored bebop, hard bob, post-bob and avant-garde jazz,
Coltrane discovered for himself, invented free jazz and modal jazz.

John gained experience, honed skills, performed with improvisation.
The audience appreciated his commitment, passion, gift, inspiration.
He had developed own style, his rapid rhythm–the “sheets of sound.”
John’s musical expression was deep, reflective, sensitive, profound.

Music for John was his life’s essence, remedy, which he didn’t stop.
Coltrane had worked with harmony and timing, and never given up.
His efforts were invested into melody and rhythm experimentation.
Music for him - a channel of human connection and communication.

John’s technical delivery, execution was always of the highest quality.
He had performed emotionally, mindfully with purpose and spirituality.
Coltrane attempted and succeeded inspiring, enlightening, surprising.
He never stopped evolving in his craft, John had continued optimizing.
 
John skillfully played soprano and tenor saxophone, horn, clarinet, flute.
He was a master of his trade – well rounded, creative, intuitive, astute.
With a technique called “Coltrane changes” he made a jazz revolution.
John is remembered for his talent and invaluable, priceless contribution.

September 23rd – John Coltrane’s birthday, we remember him today.
Let’s turn John’s musical recording on and listen to his jazzy play.
His virtuosic skill and talent charged with drive and emotionality
Had constituted John Coltrane’s distinct and diverse individuality.
