Baby Blue
She comes asking the time,
And I think as I draw on my joint,
You may be a lady,
Or Judy O'Grady,
But is is exactly the point?
Come along, you Baby Blue
Life is good for me and you
Love's a war, and love's a game
Win or lose, it ends the same
The bartender's fine,
And a good friend of mine,
He'll give us the best of his wines.
Just do him a favour,
And savour this flavour,
And let it un-harness your mind.
That's one of my friends,
He's a clarinet player,
A devil with whisky and birds,
And while he's a-playing,
There's something he's saying,
But no one can quite catch the words.
The other one's better,
He used to have letters
Printed right after his name.
Now they call him Rhino,
The star of the winos,
Singing and playing for dames.
He's good with the keys,
He can drive you to tears
Doing 'Dimples', or 'Green Grass Of Home'.
He's secretly winking,
And that sets me thinking,
It's time for us both to go home...
Take it easy, Baby Blue
Life is fine for me and you
Love's a war, and love's a game
Win or lose, it ends the same.
