The Ugly Duckling new version

Once in a barnyard there lived
Five goats, three cows, a dog named Bucks,
One turkey, and you won't believe -
One hundred little yellow ducks!

The ninety nine all looked the same,
All beautiful in all the ways.
The other duckling had bad fame,
She was her family's disgrace.

She didn't have a single friend
As no one even talked to her.
She was alone in their small land
And even in the whole big world.

She heard birds talking of the south,
Of warm and beautiful seaside,
So she decided to leave her house
And to begin a great new life.

So years passed and rumours spread
That in the barnyard they would hold
A beauty contest of the land,
That guests from different towns were called.

The nominees were all the same,
All good and nice, except for one.
Nobody knew from where she came,
She was so beautiful as no one.

Of course, she gained the greatest prise.
She stood on stage in diamond crown
And looked in the spectators' eyes.
The dream came true. At last she won.

The Mother Duck looked at the stage
And saw something she couldn't get -
A golden locket on her neck,
The same as all her children had.

The moral of the poem is:
No matter how a child looks like,
A mother's love must never cease
And it must lead you through the life!
