Do take it from the shelf.
There's much indignity, you know
your laughter & your joy,
Desire, lust & most of all
Mischief because of love.
a date of birth & childish dreams,
& trips, & job, & views,
Your cheerful lovers, naked fears
& blank for more reviews.
What am I there if not a note,
The one you ran across?
Oh, once you saw it, then forgot-
It's unimportant loss.
What are you doing in my book?
Are you a song or spell,
I'm so attached & badly hooked?
How long will there you dwell?
It seems to me you are a stamp
That starts my newer part.
I won't forget: you gave the wings
For me to fly apart.
You gave me care, you made me laugh
As no one else before.
