 Берёзы

 Отчего так в России березы шумят?..
 Отчего белоствольные все понимают?..
 У дорог, прислонившись по ветру, стоят
 И листву так печально кидают…

 Я пойду по дороге – простору я рад!..
 Может, это лишь все, что я в жизни узнаю…
 Отчего так печальные листья летят,
 Под рубахою душу лаская?..

 А на сердце опять горячо-горячо,
 И опять, и опять без ответа!..
 А листочек с березки упал на плечо –
 Он, как я, оторвался от веток!..

 Посидим на дорожку, родная, с тобой…
 Ты пойми – я вернусь, не печалься,  не стоит!..
 И старуха махнет на прощанье рукой
 И за мною калитку закроет.

 Отчего так в России березы шумят?..
 Отчего хорошо так гармошка играет?..
 Пальцы ветром по кнопочкам враз пролетят,
 А последняя – эх! – западает!..

 А на сердце опять горячо-горячо,
 И опять, и опять без ответа!..
 А листочек с березки упал на плечо –
 Он, как я, оторвался от веток!..


 The forests

 Why are forests of Russia still looking so live?
 Why they’re bent by the wind, standing near the roads?
 How Сan they feel sorry, be sad and, besides,
 Give you power, wonderful forests!

 I’m а guest of that charming and marvelous place
 Maybe this is just all that I know, and moreover,
 I’ll come to that beautiful, sensitive space
 To divide off the thing that can bother!

 It's а flame of my heart, it is burning inside
 Just because I’ve got no answer strongly –
 How to feel or to stop, how to live or to die,
 Why, what for, for so long, I’m so lonely!

 Let’s pretend, with a smile, it’s all right…
 Let’s pretend that we know, we Do know it for certain…
 Homelike, rather tired of problems and fight
 I’ll be back here shortly, next autumn.

 Why the forests of Russia are noisily glad
 Both to say you «good buy» or to say «welcome, dear»?!
 As the music you love always plays in your head –
 So the forests are far, but still near!
