Van Gogh. Starry Night- On helplessness

On helplessness while looking at Van Gogh's "Starry Night"

“Live to the fullest. Follow urges
To breathe and peer into a mist.”
He doubted this insight. He fought it.
I wish I were his therapist.

Oh, there were nights when I would
Look up and wouldn’t see the skies,
Tears of joy and understanding
Welling up in heart and eyes.

If he only listened to me… I witnessed
The beauty of his cruel night,
Walked in his shoes. And yet, I couldn’t
Divert a bullet from its flight.

Breathe in the night?- The world is putrid.
Live to the fullest?- All in vain.
He’s doomed to die. Now, how would I
Live with the curse of being sane?

Galina, i think it is beautiful. It is absolutely unfair that people miss true marvels in stihiru mediocre marshes. Please, receive my compliments - and keep going!

Flattering even if overstated. Actually, this was one of the first attempts to write poetry in English for me. Спасибо за добрые слова.
