Fairy tail

One evening in April,
Three fishers at work,
In the country well-known,
Frozen by breeze,
On the coast of the Gulf of Hudson.
As you may guessed,
Those fishers were called,
Andrew, Mark and John.
Work came to the end,
Each of the guys,
Filled with fish his sack,
The last fish they caught,
said: "Oh, dear fellows,
You make your wishes,
But give me my freedom back."
John was the first,
To start his speech,
As shock faded away:
"I want to propose,
To the fairest lady,
And may not she say me 'Nay!'
Her name is Helen,
In our village,
Her house is next to mine"
"Okay" says the fish...
How John could've probably known
The fee for her night
Was sometimes nickle,
Rarely - dime.

Next was Mark,
To give his decision,
The most modest of all,
He asked the fish,
For a deserted castle,
With strong stone wall...
That was his prison,
But, dear Mark,
was happy inside it, indeed...

Those wishes were supposed to give
Andy, quite a good lead...
But to err is human,
To forgive is divine,
Though, I'm not sure
About the last.
Fear to make
A fatal mistake,
Was clearly read in his eyes.
He started his speech,
Slowly, gently,
Picking up every word:

"Oh, mightiest Fish,
With the power you have,
You can give me
All of the world,
But, what its value,
Will be for me,
When I get older and bald,
I neither do care
For money and love,
No smile wisdom will bring,
So, slow down this breeze,
Let me walk on the gulf,
Like on a china floor."
-"Alas, I am but a slave,
To get this you must,
Give up you tongue,
To equal yourself to fish,
Then wash your feet off clay,
Be equal to birds,
And give up your 'I',
For more meaningful word."
-"But, holy justice?"
-"Nobody promised that."
-"Then," - said Andrew -
I wanna my sack,
Full of fish as it was,
Bottle wine, beautiful dusk,
And those two idiots back."

Story ends here,
Needless to say,
His wishes were in vain,
John is looking for change,
Mark is mending his wall,
Andrew sits by the sea, alone,
Searching for hope,
In the lifeless waves,
Frying the golden fish...
