Defining moment
I'd like to think
that it was sheer romance:
starlight tangled in her hair,
the sibillance of sea;
no intimation of mistakes
and stumblings to come,
calamity they could not clothe
in poetry; but clarity,
a union blessed
by spirits of the island
for eternity...
I'd like to think
that's how it was,
a moment snatching them
from time, which one day
after many moons would see me
giving birth to poems,
despite the years of hardship
and uncertainty
that intervene.
