Who said that poets do not get shot?
That Christianity is not consumed by flames?
An example exists in a simple instance,
In those letters written to me.

God’s word once more vexes
And pierces the snake with a spear,
Because Christianity plants
God’s seed in my native land.

That some day these shoots will climb,
That the seeds of kindness will sprout
Even though today the Saints’ names are studied
Merely in the name of fashion.

The ancient blade of grass will sprout
And the memories will remain in our minds.
A living speck of dust from Christ’s shroud
Will blossom into the Garden of Eden within our hearts.

Who said that poets do not get shot?
That Christianity is not squelched from without?
Simply, often this has been kept silent
And Russia was kept in the dark.

Simply, we rarely spoke
Of the suffering of Christian families
And instead of being given holy water,
We were taken en masse to Lenin’s Mausoleum.

Simply, we drank from the wrong spring,
Did not preserve our sanctuary.
We were saturated to the bone
By the stench of the anti-Christ’s speeches.

But now our consciousness has become lucid
That a chunk of history was torn out.
Perhaps our repentance will still
Be accepted by the merciful Saviour, our God?

Christian poets are not liked here,
Printing presses are wasted on sex
And questions remain unanswered;
A devil is still rampant in the land.

Only God’s word is eternal.
Our poems do not burn.
We will heartily pray for peace
And bathe in the dew of tears.

We will live without sinful passions,
Keep believing the Saviour will come
We will build spiritual bliss within families,
Grant forgiveness and love to each other.

Who said that poets are not squelched?
That Christianity is not consumed by flames?
You will not be told about this openly,
But the threats are sent even to me.
